Course description
This course is a continued introduction to the much-admired modern calligraphy. Taking you from complete beginner to calligrapher, building upon the fundamental skills, exploring intricate techniques like flourishing and variable line weights using pointed pen and brush pens and delve into creative letterforms, composition, and layout, aiming to refine their personal style. The focus is on hands-on projects, including designing intricate artworks and personalized items. This course emphasises the honing of calligraphy skills and fostering a deep understanding of calligraphic techniques. Experimenting with innovative letter forms and development your own personal style. Master simple techniques to enrich your understanding of modern calligraphy. Apply layout and composition skills to create interesting and arresting designs. Integrate textures and layering using a wide variety of inks and paints. Exploring the many tools that are available to the calligrapher from lightboxes to brush pens and paintbrushes. Experimenting with surfaces to adapt techniques and styles and integrate colour into work to heighten creativity. Decorative elements such as swashes and flourishes and their appropriate use in finished work and portfolio development. Creating birthday cards and quotes. If you like stationery you will love calligraphy.
